The Hart
Family Business
The
Hart family of Baton Rouge has distinguished itself over five generations.
Robert Hart was Mayor of Baton Rouge in the 1890's, and a real estate
developer during the years when Baton Rouge was a small town. He literally
helped map the major development of the city.
Albert
Hart, in the formative years of the 1960's, pioneered the residential
and commercial development of the southern part of the parish. In
1951 he purchased a large tract of land south of Lee Drive and developed
Highland Road Estates, reserving sixteen acres for the family home
site. He purchased additional acreage in 1974 and Walden, Baton Rouge's
first planned unit residential development, was opened.
In
1962, William A. Hart joined his father in the real estate and construction
business and has distinguished himself in his professional career.
He has been recognized as an innovator and a leader, being the first
developer of office condominiums (Court Four) and the first planned
unit development in the city (Walden). He has distinguished himself
further with election by his peers as the President of both the Baton
Rouge Home Builders Association and the Louisiana Home Builders Association.
His
commitment to quality residential developments continues with The
Pond on Hart's Mill Lane, created from the natural beauty of the family
estate.
In
1987, after graduating from Loyola University, Drew Hart joined the
family real estate business, becoming the fifth consecutive generation
in this business. Both Drew and his mother, Barbara, are the listing
agents for The Pond and represent the developer and marketing company,
Wm. Hart Ltd., Realtors.
